Divemaster course
The SNSI Divemaster Course is the first level of professional certification. During the course you will learn how to work with divers, accompany certified divers and act as a dive guide, showing divers the underwater dive sites and marine life that inhabits these dive sites. You'll increase your knowledge of physics and physiology, as well as increase your proficiency with your scuba diving skills.
Note:* At SNSI, students already have a certification equivalent to that of an SNSI Instructor Assistant, that is, they will be able to teach the Discovery Program.
This course is for:
- The advanced diver interested in working in the dive industry as a professional dive guide or going further to become an instructor.
Course prerequisites:
- Minimum age of 18 years.
- S NSI Advanced Diver Certificate or equivalent; Advanced certification. must include verifiable experience in Depth, Navigation, and Night/Limited Visibility.
- Certified as an NSI Rescue Diver S or equivalent.
- Provide proof of NSI CPR , First Aid, and Oxygen Provider training (where local law permits)*.
- Proof of holding at least 40 logged dives (see 3.11 for number of dives/hours required for graduation).
- Completing the medical application and submitting a medical certificate
- Signature of the contract signed by the parents and/or guardian
- to join the Divemaster training course, you will need to be
passed a test (physical and aquacity) consisting of the following exercises:
- Run 12 minutes at a distance of 2,700 meters for men and 2,300 meters for women.
- Do 25 push-ups in 01 minute for men and 20 for women;
- perform 30 rower-style sit-ups in 01 minute (men and women);
- Swim 200 meters in the maximum time of 5 minutes (men and women)
- Swim any style 800 meters in a maximum of 25 minutes (men and women)
- Dynamic apnea (submerged swimming) of, at least 25 meters (men and women);
- Static apnea for at least 60 seconds;
- permanence in the water (floating) of at least 15 minutes.
*Note: CPROX, CPR1st or CPROX1stAED SDI courses can be combined with the SDI Divemaster program if by qualified instructors

Some of the necessary skills you will need to demonstrate include:
- Swim 800 meters with mask, snorkel and fins non-stop and without using your arms in less than 17 minutes
- 400 meters of swimming on the surface, without stops, without impulse, without the use of swimming aids in less than 10 minutes. Swimming goggles are allowed.
- Dive Skills – Minimum Equipment: All equipment required for an SDI Dive Leader
- In the water, transport another diver fully equipped at a fast pace for 100 meters in less than 4 minutes
- Demonstrate a complete rescue scenario satisfactorily
- Perform underwater skills with and without a mask
- Swim at the surface in full scuba gear, using the snorkel for 100 meters
- Bring a diver, simulating unconsciousness, from a depth not exceeding 6 meters / 20 feet; surfacing swim 100 meters in less than 4 minutes

What's there for you?
Upon successful completion of this course, the student will be able to:
- Assist an SDI Instructor during scuba diving courses, provided the activities are similar to the candidate's previous training
- Supervise and conduct dives for certified divers, provided activities are similar to prior graduate experience and training
Divemaster Dive Guide minimum requirements:
- Satisfactorily complete the Divemaster SDI written exam, or online version with a minimum score of 80 percent and 100 percent remediation
- Complete all requirements in the water
- Demonstrate to an SDI Instructor the problem-solving ability of a diver in and out of the water.
- Demonstrate mature judgment and common sense in relation to the planning and execution of dives
- Operate as a Divemaster Dive Guide in a wide variety of environments
