SNSI Advanced Nitrox Course
SNSI Advanced Nitrox Course
Are you looking to expand your dive time? Maybe you're a science diver or photographer looking to stay in the water a little longer? The SNSI Advanced Nitrox Course qualifies divers to use nitrox enriched air from EAN 21 to EAN 100 percent within their current certification level to a maximum depth of 40 meters / 130 feet on dives not requiring staged decompression. Often taught in conjunction with the SNSI Decompression Procedures course, it can be considered as the foundation for your technical diving career. The SNSI Advanced Nitrox Course is also a must for SCR or CCR Rebreather Divers.
This course is for:
- The open water diver who is interested in learning more about nitrox blends.
- The open water diver who is interested in extending their bottom time.
- The certified diver who is interested in furthering technical diving education.
Course prerequisites:
(these requirements must be met before starting the course):
- Minimum age 18 years old or 15 years old with parental consent.
- Minimum SNSI Nitrox Diver diver certification or equivalent.
- Proof of 25 logged dives.
What can you expect to learn
Advanced Nitrox picks up where SNSI Nitrox left off and offers a deeper look at nitrox diving, including:
- Physics and physiology related to diving with gas mixtures containing more than 40% oxygen
- Gas planning, dive tables, dive computers, oxygen and nitrogen limitations
- Equipment considerations, cylinder labeling, analysis of nitrox mixtures, gas mixing procedures, and oxygen service ratings for using gases with greater than 40% oxygen
Some of the skills you will complete in this course include:
- Demonstrate buoyancy control; ability to hover in a fixed position in the water column without moving hands or feet
- Good awareness of buddy and other team members through team communication, proximity and guided dive practices
- Demonstrate the ability to manage free flow from a primary regulator in a controlled manner, shut down the cycle, and switch to the backup regulator.
- Make a proper safety stop while maintaining neutral buoyancy
- Demonstrate the ability to share air with friend as both receiver and donor in a controlled manner while maintaining position in the water column
- Demonstrate correct body position; proper, horizontal trim when moving forward
- Demonstrate correct self and dive buddy stress analysis
What's there for you?
- Ability to dive using EAN 21 at 100 percent oxygen, provided:
- Diving activities approach those of training
- Areas of activities approximate those of training
- Environmental conditions approximate those of training
- Ability to enroll in SNSI Decompression Procedures, Semi-Closed Rebreather courses, SNSI Closed Circuit.
TDI Advanced Nitrox Diver minimum requirements:
- Successfully complete the SNSI Advanced Nitrox course and written exam.
- Fulfill all on-water requirements safely and efficiently
- Demonstrate sound judgment regarding mature dive planning and execution
